Comparing vampire films

Vampire films can vary a lot so two films i am going to compare are Lost boys and Underworld: i have chosen these two films as they have a lot of similarities and a lot of differences.

The similarities are:

- They both obviously include the teeth getting bigger but also that they both don't have a complete transformation of the vampire into a bat

- Another similarity is that have a group of vampires and are both sets of vampires and are both sets of vampires are young adults around 18 - 25

- They both also include love in the film, this love starts of as a human to a vampire then the human character changes into a supernatural being

- Both films include the stereotypical vampire

- Both films use a lot of blood to scare the audience as it would play on there fears

- Both films have a main fight between the main races of characters in the film ( i.e. Underworld vampire vs. werewolves and Lost boys vampire vs. human)

- Both films use a main figure or figures other than Dracula

The differences are:

- Underworld uses all three of vampires, werewolves and a hybrid mix of werewolves/vampire whereas Lost boys just use vampires and make the main fight of races between vampires and humans

- Lost boys show a significant change of the human to vampire scenes, they use makeup and a different non diegetic sounds to show this, whereas Underworld doesn't it makes the audience presumes that there has been a change

- Another difference is that Underworld uses a lot of settings while Lost boys only use a few main locations
